What ink does MFC-J6930DW use?
The MFC-J9640DW uses the LC422 range of ink cartridges. They are available in standard capacity (LC422) and high capacity (LC422XL) models. You will need all four cartridges (black, cyan, magenta and yellow) installed in your printer for it to work.
Can I use a different brand of ink in my Brother printer?

It’s possible but we don’t recommend it. You can refill Brother ink cartridges but, in most cases, you would also need to reset or replace the chip on the cartridge so that the printer doesn’t identify it as empty. Refilling printer cartridges used to be a viable option in the days before reliable compatible cartridges, and chips that could tell the printer whether the cartridge had been used before. Today, it is just as economical, considerably easier and a lot less messy to buy compatible cartridges instead
