There are a number of ways to check if your Epson printer ink is real. The first place to check is the ink cartridge itself. Real Epson printer inks come with an official Epson hologram, which is very difficult to replicate. It is also a good idea to keep an eye on the colour of the carton and the labeling. Another common sign of a fake Epson ink is if the plastic sticker over the ink port is missing. If this sticker is missing never use the cartridge in your printer, as you risk damaging your printer.

To change the ink in your Epson printer, please follow the following steps:
  1. Turn on your Epson printer
  2. Lift up the lid to the scanning unit
  3. The ink cartridges slot should slide into position. You may need to press the stop button for a few seconds to ensure that they slide into the correct position.
  4. Remove the used cartridges by squeezing the two tabs together.
  5. Shake you new cartridges carefully for a few seconds.
  6. Remove the packaging off the new Epson ink cartridges.
  7. Carefully remove the tape from the cartridge.
  8. Place the new cartridge into the empty ink slot inside the printer.
  9. Close the lid of the scanning unit.
  10. Press the stop button. This will reposition the ink slot into the correct position again.
  11. Wait for the power light to stop flashing.
  12. Once the light stops flashing your printer is ready to use.
